We are
Our unit enforces EU State aid rules in the liberalised electricity and gas sectors. We ensure
affordable, secure and clean energy supplies for European consumers, while safeguarding a level
playing field across firms and Member States.
Our work cuts across many EU policies including energy, climate, renewables and security of supply.
We co-operate closely with other services at the European Commission as well as with Member
States, regulatory authorities and companies. We are also closely involved in the Commission’s
reaction to the ongoing crisis in the energy sector, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
We propose
Join us for 3-5 months traineeship (starting in September 2023 or later). You will help to implement
the State aid rules for Climate, Energy and Environmental protection (CEEAG), the Temporary Crisis
Framework (adopted to support the economy in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine) and on
Member State measures related to the ongoing crisis in the European gas and electricity markets.
Trainees make important direct contributions to casework under the supervision of more
experienced colleagues. There is no additional pay on top of the Referendarvergütung.
