In 2014, the Andrássy Forum for Western Balkan Studies was established at the Andrássy University Budapest as a networking platform with the aim to bring together academic expertise from Germany and Austria, the Visegrad Four (V4) and Western Balkan (WB) states.

The First Workshop of the Andrássy Forum for Western Balkan Studies took place in March 2014 in
Budapest. The research that time focused on the analysis of the relationship between Visegrad Four
and Western Balkan states in the various processes of EU-Integration.

The objective of the Second Workshop in November 2015 is to extend the forum's expertise in the
area of regional cooperation in the Danube Region. The platform aims to provide analyses of the
function and challenges of regional cooperation with a specific focus on the support of processes of
EU-Integration and EU-approximation of non-EU-member states in the Western Balkans. The
experiences of other forms of regional cooperation, such as the Visegrad Four model or the macroregional strategies of the EU, can be useful for the understanding of successes, challenges and limitations of regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.

The Workshop will start with a presentation of the activities of the Andrássy Forum for Western Balkan
Studies in 2014 and 2015, including an outlook of potential activities and new developments. After
that, every participant has the possibility to introduce their research interest, projects and/or their
institution to the participants. The workshop will end with a discussion of ideas for prospect activities.
